We're excited today to announce the launch of a groundbreaking training for law enforcement called the C.A.L.M. Approach. This innovative offering is a comprehensive program designed to provide law enforcement a practical skill set they can exercise when dealing with open, empty-handed force encounters; skills that encompass proper communication strategies, sound decision-making, and life-saving medical considerations.
C.A.L.M. incorporates four basic principles that serve as essential tools for today’s progressive law enforcement agency:
Communication
Active Physical Control Maneuvers
Lateral Recovery Restraint
Minimization
This training also includes a newly designed, medically-approved recovery/restraining position, the Lateral Recovery Restraint (LRR). Subject(s) can be placed in this position when they have been involved in a violent physical encounter or are under the influence of a drug. The LRR allows subject(s) to recover more effectively thus increasing survivability while still giving officers a positive control technique.
This curriculum has been developed by subject matter experts in psychology, emergency medicine, non-lethal defensive tactics, and law enforcement de-escalation strategies, and results in a certification program available to departments nationwide. Contact us today to learn more or visit the C.A.L.M. Approach website.
